Family Drama

This book contains eight women’s stories. What holds all the stories together is that they're all about mothers and daughters—four mothers who immigrate from China and their four daughters who are raised in America. All four mother-daughter pairs have their own communication issues: run of the mill problems, but also intergenerational, linguistic, and cultural barriers to understanding each other.

The main question the stories raise are: how well does a daughter know her mother, and how well does a mother know her daughter? This book deals with many of the sacrifices mothers make, the mistakes they make in their own lives, and how the mothers attempt to pass on their love, wisdom, and hope to their daughters.
