The Library of Babel Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

G

Yeah, we know, we like the whole "sexy librarian" look, too. But trust us, that's not what this story is about. Our narrator is a fairly old dude with other things on his mind. In fact, it's difficult to imagine how the inhabitants of the Library reproduce, since the only mention of a woman occurs in the final footnote of the story. Should we attribute the narrator's frequent use of the word "men" to mean "humankind" as a sign of the more sexist time period in which this story was written? Or should we assume that this imaginary world really is populated almost exclusively by men? Hey, at least that would explain why the human race is dying out.
