Three Act Plot Analysis

Act I

Bernice's thoroughly uneventful visit suddenly explodes with eventfulness – after her fight with Marjorie, she promises to do everything her cousin tells her in order to learn the art of popularity.

Act II

The plan works, and Bernice's idyll lasts until Marjorie turns against her. Act II ends at the barber shop, where everyone is gathered to watch Bernice bob her hair.

Act III

Act III is our favorite – shorn and infuriated, Bernice abandons all of her inhibitions and runs away…but first she cuts off her cousin's beautiful hair.
