Lady Mallinger is Sir Hugo's wife. They get married when Daniel is away at school. She and her daughters all love Daniel. Lady Mallinger is always beating herself up about not having had a son, because now Grandcourt gets to inherit all of Sir Hugo's wealth and she and the girls will have to depend on him for even the smallest bit of generosity after Sir Hugo dies.
