Mrs. Meyrick in Daniel Deronda

Mrs. Meyrick

Mrs. Meyrick, a widow, is Hans's mother. She takes Mirah into her home after Daniel finds her on the riverbank. Mrs. Meyrick is a doting mother and a caring friend. We can't help but point out, though, that she also tends to portray some pretty anti-Semitic attitudes that rub both Mirah and the reader the wrong way.
