By Charles Dickens

Jip

Jip is Dora Spenlow's lapdog, an irritable little animal whom she spoils rotten. He's a jealous creature, and likes to bark at people who might distract Dora's attention away from Jip himself. He can't stand David and really hates Miss Betsey. Jip is also clearly a stand-in for Dora herself. David notices that everyone in Dora's family spoils her much as Dora spoils Jip. And Jip dies at the exact same moment that Dora does, loyal to the last.
