The thought of Bella becoming a vampire torments Jacob. Because his mind is tied to his werewolf pack, his pain affects them all. Leah has had it. She tells him to get over Bella, because Edward might kill her anyway. Jacob doesn't think he will, but he also doesn't trust Edward completely.
At home, Billy hands Jacob the wedding invitation. Jacob struggles to control his rage. He has to leave the house. To escape his pain, he morphs into werewolf form and takes off into woods. He says to himself:
Feel nothing but speed, nothing but the pull of muscle… If the silence in my head lasted, I would never go back… I pushed my legs faster, letting Jacob Black disappear behind me. (Epilogue.86)
