Arthur stays in the pens with the hay and calls Grandfather on the doll-phone; Grandfather is not happy to hear all this.
Still, though, Grandfather says that he can tell Arthur how to reassemble his wings so that he can get out of there. The new plan is for Arthur to wait until Snatcher and his crew go to sleep, and then try to escape.
Arthur drifts off, but wakes up when a couple of crows fly in and start talking to him. Arthur gives them a message to bring back to the ship, and also asks them to try to see if the men are all asleep.
The crows give the all-clear, so Arthur sneaks back down into the main part of the hall to try to get the keys from Snatcher. He succeeds.
Grandfather talks Arthur through repairing the wings, and then Arthur goes to rescue the underlings.
