Aias in The Iliad

By Homer

By Aias we are here referring to "big" Aias (a.k.a. "Telamonian Aias," the son of Telamon). "Little" Aias is, well, a much smaller character, and doesn't get his own profile. Basically, Aias is a really big guy, and one of the most powerful Achaian warriors. We mainly see him doing heavy defensive fighting, like when he single-handedly fights off a bunch of Trojans from the deck of a beached warship (though he eventually has to back down). And he does all this without ever getting assistance from the gods. He's Western history's first recorded linebacker.
