Mo works on repairing Fenoglio's books for two days, while Meggie pals around with the grandkids and reads her book of poems.
Meggie asks Mo about her mom one night, so Mo tells her that her mother loved flat, smooth stones, and she laughs like Meggie does.
Then Meggie asks Mo where he thinks Dustfinger has gone. They talk, and Meggie says that Dustfinger probably went back for the book, didn't he? Mo says that if it weren't for Meggie, he'd go back for the book too.
