Chapter 44

Nudge and Fang jump to their feet and find that there are three Erasers waiting for them. One of them is Ari.
Ari tells them that they're the last members of the flock alive, which makes Nudge start to cry; he also tells them that their home has burned to the ground.
Fang, on the other hand, tells her to do a pinwheel. They're discussing moves they can do in code—you know, since they've learned all sorts of fancy flying maneuvers from the hawks they've been hanging out with.
Nudge grabs a can of spray paint and aims it right at Ari's face. This stops him momentarily, and she and Fang take off in flight.
The Erasers yell back after them, but they can't follow now that Nudge and Fang are airborne.
Nudge apologizes to Fang, and then they both go back to their nest with the hawks. For now, this will have to be home.
