Back at Dr. Martinez's house, Max is helping make cookies from scratch. She's never done this before, and she feels like she's in heaven.
She stuffs herself full of cookie dough and freshly baked cookies, and then tells Ella that she has to leave the next day.
Ella is upset and tells Max that she's been like a sister to her. It makes Max feel worse about everything because she really does love Ella and Dr. Martinez.
But she can't lie, and so Max tells Ella that she can't visit them in the future—she'd love to, of course, but it's just too dangerous.
