Part 2, Chapter 23

  • Since all the steamships are booked, Lady Allenby, the wife of the Lieutenant-General, graciously offers Mrs. Moore passage in her own cabin on a ship back to England.
  • Mrs. Moore takes the train through central India to Bombay. She's impressed with what she sees, particularly Asirgarh.
  • She feels as though the India she's seeing on her train ride is so different from the Marabar Caves, and she wishes she could see the rest of India.
  • In Bombay, she meets Lady Allenby, who warns her against standing in the heat.
