  • Inside the brothel, Pander, Bawd, and Boult complain that Marina is still a virgin and is totally running their business into the ground.
  • Boult thinks he needs to "ravish" her so she'll stop preaching to the customers and sending them away.
  • Now the Governor of Meteline, a guy named Lysimachus, shows up at the brothel looking for a virgin. He'swearing a disguise so he won't be recognized.
  • Scumbag politician? Check.
  • Lysimachus is introduced to Marina, who proceeds to charm him with her virtue and her witty conversation.
  • After a brief chat, Marina convinces Lysimachus that they shouldn't hook up and that he should try to livea more virtuous life.
  • Lysimachus is transformed. He gives Marina a bunch of gold and thanks her for helping him see the light.
  • Boult, Pander, and Bawd are furious that Marina has driven away one of their best customers. They threatento let Boult rape her, but she manages to convince Boult that there's a better option.
  • Marina tells Boult that she can make a bunch of money by teaching others how to sing, dance, and sew.
  • Boult gives in and says he'll see what he can do.
