Chapter 28
- Hans takes Greta to visit his parents.
- Because Hans and Einar grew up together, Hans shows Greta Einar's childhood home.
- She feels weird that she is seeing her husband's past when her husband isn't around to see it.
- When Hans asks Greta if she wants to go to California next, she says yes.
- A week later, they're off. California here they come, right back where she started from.
- Greta sets up her easel on the ship, and she paints the beautiful Pasadena landscape of her childhood from memory.
- And she looks over at Hans, all gorgeous and bronze and stretched out in a deck chair, and she's happy.
