Mom returns home from renewing her teaching certificate. Yay.
Then Mom immediately quits her job. Boo.
After an argument, Jeannette tells Mom, "If you want to be treated like a mother […] you should act like one" (3.22.15).
Mom says she'll tell Dad how Jeannette spoke to her.
Jeannette isn't worried, but when Dad comes home, he whips her with a belt.
Jeannette decides that night to start saving up money so she and Lori can move away from Welch. She buys a piggy bank to put her savings in.
