The Paladin Prophecy Community

By Mark Frost

If you've seen the show Community, you know how being in a school together can bring even the unlikeliest weirdoes together into a tight-knit friendship. Heck, "community" is in the name of "community college," so it's kind of required.

Being in a private boarding school works similarly. Even though the Center for Integrated Learning doesn't have colorful houses like Hogwarts has, it puts its students together into little pods. And living together means you have to try to get along whether you like it or not. The Paladin Prophecy shows us what happens when these kids stop being polite and start being real.

Questions About Community

  1. How does Will change when he goes from being isolated to being a part of a community?
  2. What role does Will assume at the Center?
  3. Why are the secret societies a threat to Will and his friends?

Chew on This

Will's main goal at the beginning of the novel is to find a community he can belong to. By the end of the novel, he has found one.

Teamwork is important. Will is only able to succeed because he is able to organize a team. He would have failed on his own.
