Thomas wakes up to see Newt staring at him. Newt reminisces about the good old days when the "original Gladers" were setting up the Glade.
It must have been quite the scene for the original Gladers, but they were pretty darn good about being confused and such. They got the farm up and running within days.
Hey, maybe those kids from Lord of the Flies could have learned something from these kids.
Anyway, Thomas is all sad-face because he thinks they've been left there to die, but Newt reassures him that they're all being put through another kind of test, like the Maze.
Well, we guess that's reassurance in some twisted way.
Hunger then starts to settle in for the boys. They go about three days without food, and all of them are on the verge of starvation.
So, what does Thomas do? He falls asleep. Perfect.
Minho wakes Thomas up (thank you) and gives him an apple. Apparently, a random assortment of fruits, vegetables, and packages appeared in the common area that night.
Oh, and one more thing: a skinny dude wearing a white suit has also appeared.
Yep.
And this dude is sitting in a chair reading a book.
Just your typical night, folks. Nothing to worry about here.
