Wendy calls Garrett and it's pretty obvious right away that he doesn't know Janet is missing—he just asks about Wendy and how she's doing with everything.
Then she tells him Janet worked in one of the towers, and he goes silent. He tells her he needs to think but he'll call her back soon.
She thinks about how she once found a painting of her mother in the closet and it was something her father had done.
She also remembers all the fights her parents had when they were still together about how her dad wouldn't make any money to take care of his family.
Then one time he went to New Jersey for an art show and Janet decided they were going to surprise him and show up. When they got to the hotel, though, Janet and Wendy walked into the room to find a naked woman in the bed.
Garrett came out and kept apologizing and saying it didn't mean anything, but the next day, Janet packed up her and Wendy's stuff and they left for good.
