Right away, our vamps are sexualized. It's not just that Lissa is biting Rose's neck to feed, but that Rose enjoys it, even if she's not supposed to. Her description gives us an idea of the tantalizing world these students live in.
As I'd just been reminded, feeders were vampire-bite addicts. We accepted that as part of life but still looked down on them for it. For anyone else—especially a dhampir—letting a Moroi take blood from you was almost, well, dirty. In fact, one of the kinkiest, practically pornographic things a dhampir could do was let a Moroi drink blood during sex. (5.33)
With this in mind, it's no surprise that Lissa and Rose keep the neck feeding thing a secret from everyone at school. It's thought to be dirty and gross, even though the Morois have no shame in doing it. They all flock to the feeding room every single day. It's pretty harsh to think so poorly of the folks who are willing to share their blood with you to keep you alive.
"I'm not a blood whore," I snapped, pulling away from him. "But you want to. You like it. All you dhamp girls do." His teeth were on my skin again. Sharp. Wonderful. (9.57)
As much as we hate to admit it, we don't see much difference between blood whores and what Rose let Lissa do while they were gone. Sure, it was to make sure Lissa got enough blood, but Rose liked it. Jesse's a jerk about it, but Rose shouldn't be so hard on people who like the woozy bite... since she's one of them.
Dimitri was quiet and distant sometimes, but he also had a dedication and an intensity that I'd never seen in any other person. I wondered how that kind of power and strength translated into... well, sex. I wondered what it'd be like for him to touch me. (9.77)
Oh boy—Rose starts to wonder about Dimitri in a new light. It's strange for her that Dimitri's eyes and body could do more for her than Jesse's kisses. Hmm… maybe she doesn't feel as strongly about Jesse as she thought.
She'd fessed up that the two of them had had sex the weekend before, and I felt a surge of jealousy that she'd been the one to have sex first. "So what was it like?"
She shrugged and took another drink. "I don't know. It wasn't anything."
"What do you mean it wasn't anything? Didn't the earth move or the planets align or something?"
"No," she said, smothering a laugh. "Of course not." (10.24-27)
Lissa losing her v-card with Aaron is no big deal to her. Rose is kinda surprised, and kinda jealous too, because she's not there yet with any guy. We'd like to point out Lissa has no problem going to bed with Aaron even though she only has lukewarm feelings for him, but Rose wants to wait for someone special. We're not judging, just saying.
But before and after, he would sometimes lighten up just a little, and I'd see him look at me in a way that was almost admiring. And sometimes, if I was really, really lucky, he'd smile at me. A real smile, too—not the dry one that accompanied the sarcasm we tossed around so often. (11.27)
Our heart melts just thinking about it. We've all had the butterflies in our stomach, that wondering tingly feeling when someone we really like gazes into our eyes. But does Dimitri lead her to believe he likes her that way, or is it all in Rose's head?
I'd been contemplating what it'd be like to kiss him. The thought both excited and scared me, which was stupid. I'd kissed a lot of guys and never thought much about it. No reason another one—even an older one—should be that big of a deal. Yet the thought of him closing the distance and bringing his lips to mine made the world start spinning. (18.47)
She might be in the hospital with a now not-so-broken leg, but Rose can still dream of her guy. Plus, he does give her lip gloss, which makes her think of kissing him all the more. We get to see a softer side of Dimitri in the hospital caring for Rose, and we gotta say, we like it. They have more than just a passionate kiss here or there.
Then, out of nowhere, he leaned forward and kissed her. It was hot and fast and furious, an outpouring of the rage and passion and longing that Christian always kept locked inside of him. Lissa had never been kissed like that, and I felt her respond to it, respond to him—how he made her feel so much more alive than Aaron or anyone else could. (18.117)
When Christian kisses Lissa, her world stops turning and it's like nothing she's ever had before, even with Aaron. It's important to think about how Lissa's idea of love and sex is different from her friend's. Why is she even with Aaron if Christian makes her feel this way?
I'd never been completely naked around a guy before. It scared the hell out of me—even though it excited me, too. Lying on the covers, we clung to each other and kept kissing—and kissing and kissing and kissing. His hands and lips took possession of my body, and every touch was like fire on my skin. (19.1)
Cover your little sister's eyes, because this scene is where Rose and Dimritri get it on. Now, we know that they were partly just reacting to the spell in the necklace, but we also think there's more to it than that. Rose is finally ready to go all the way with a guy, when the spell breaks. Looks like she's going to have to wait a little longer… Maybe in the next book?

Aw—Dimitri tells her the truth about why they can't be together and our hearts shatter. Could he be any sweeter? We're darn sure at this point that it's not merely the physical that these two are after, and you know what? That's what separates them from so many people at the Vampire Academy.
