The Sea People and the Sea Girl

The Sea People are an underwater race who live in the Eastern Seas between Ramandu's Island and Aslan's country. They are more like human beings than mermaids (the fact that they are able to ride astride sea-horses suggests they have legs) but they have pale ivory skin and purple hair. They are a different type of sea people from the ones who sang at the coronation of the four Pevensie children at the end of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. While those people were friendly allies of Narnia, the Sea People in this book are warlike and proud. One of the Sea People, a Sea Girl, acts as a shepherdess for a school of fish. As she is taking care of her flock, her eyes meet Lucy's, and they somehow connect very deeply in that instant.
