Character Role Analysis

Women's Leader

Generally speaking, there isn't much of a Guide/Mentor role in this play, because Lysistrata just owns. She doesn't really need to be guided or mentored by anyone: she can think things out for herself.

Still, if there's anyone who fills this role in the play, it's probably the Women's Leader (that is, the leader of the Women's Chorus). That's because the Women's Leader has many of the same opinions as Lysistrata, but is older than she is. Even though the Women's Leader doesn't exactly give Lysistrata advice, she does provide some back-up and encouragement… which certainly helps Lysistrata accomplish her mission.
