Symbol Analysis

This one shows up just in time for the end of the party, but it's really the guest of honor. All of the gloom and tension in the poem leads up to the creation of this one tear and whether we manage to take it or if it just goes right back where it came from.

  • Lines 45-48: The tear is perfect and unspoiled. It represents everything that the Man-Moth is about and everything he is striving for. The tear is the Man-Moth's masterpiece. If we really look at it and learn to appreciate and understand it, then it will provide us with a refreshing look at the world and perhaps even the inspiration to make our own masterpiece.
