In stories and movies about war, we expect to see acts of courage, and Mockingjay doesn't disappoint. The novel's characters display their courage in all sorts of ways: by acting and by not acting, by killing and by saving lives, by being inhumane and being compassionate. Nearly every act, in fact, is in some way an act of courage. It takes courage to die for a cause. But it also takes courage to live for one, and to accept that other people are dying to help you achieve that. That's the burden Katniss faces on a daily basis.
