Monster Chapter 9 Summary

Journal

  • Seeing his dad cry gives Steve the willies. He hates it.
  • He scream-writes into his journal: What did he do? Is walking into a drugstore a crime? What did he do?
  • He realizes that his relationship with his dad will never be the same; he feels like his dad sees him as a monster.
  • This is a huge problem. The whole point of O'Brien's defense is to show that Steve is not one of the monsters, but even his own dad can't tell the difference.
  • Steve's life is not going well.
