Scene 8

Scene 8

  • Ennis returns to camp, and Jack says that Aguirre came up while he was gone.
  • It's time to bring the sheep down early, because a storm is coming in.
  • Jack offers to loan Ennis some money, because they're losing a month's pay, but Ennis refuses.
  • Ennis sits on a hill and broods.
  • Jack, having enough of his mopey attitude, ropes him like a steer, and the two men wrestle in the grass.
  • Ennis doesn't take it playfully, and the two men get into a fistfight, bloodying each other's noses.
  • Done driving each other crazy, the men drive the sheep down the mountain.
  • Aguirre counts the sheep, and he's disappointed in the numbers. No one is going to get to sleep if these are the only sheep they have to count.
