Scene 27

• Some time has passed. The child is an infant and Mercedes is taking care of him.
• Vidal tells her he knows of an informant and taunts her with his observation that the lock to the storeroom was unlocked, not forced.
• When she leaves to get him more liquor, she plans on taking off for good. She goes to say goodbye to Ofelia, who pleads Mercedes to take her with her.
• She says no at first but in the next shot we see her and Ofelia escaping in the rain…only to be caught by Vidal and his men.
• He takes Ofelia back to her room. Does a little yelling and slapping, and leaves her to go take care of Mercedes.
