Mrs. Shaw Timeline and Summary

Mrs. Shaw runs around at the beginning of the book making sure that preparations are going well for her daughter's wedding. Whenever she gets the chance, she also mopes about how she wishes she had married for love instead of money when she was younger.
After being absent for most of the book, Mrs. Shaw shows up in Milton after Margaret Hales' parents have died. She spends a few days with Margaret and mostly complains about what a filthy town Milton is. She's relieved when the two of them finally head back to London.
Back in London, Mrs. Shaw uses every opportunity she can to pamper Margaret.
