Edie Doyle (Eva Marie Saint)’s Timeline and Summary

Edie is outraged when Johnny Friendly's gang kills her brother. She demands justice, and provokes Father Barry to organize the dockworkers and urge them to testify against Johnny.
She goes to a meeting held by Barry with the workers. But the meeting is attacked by Johnny Friendly's hoods.
Fortunately, Terry helps her escape. They bond afterwards, walking through a park.
Her father urges her not to hang out with Terry and go back to school, but she doesn't listen.
She wants to solve Joey's murder, and she knows Terry has a conscience and might be able to tell her something.
Later, she and Terry go out, but she leaves when Terry refuses to crack and admit the truth about what he knows to her.
When Terry later confesses the role he played in Joey's death, Edie gets upset and runs away.
But, just before Charley's death, she makes up with him and they get together.
After Terry testifies, she joins him down on the dock, showing him support after he gets beat up.
She's right there, looking on, when Terry picks himself up and walks into work, ending Johnny Friendly's reign.
