Although there is some typical teenage boy crudeness throughout Ordinary People, it's all talk, no action—like most loud teenage boy stuff. However, as those people who challenge books in schools (Beth Jarrett is probably one of them) have complained, there are also "musings about masturbation and premarital intercourse between Con and his girlfriend." But chapters also close right before Conrad gets close with his mattress or Jeannine. Guest doesn't dwell on it or describe the scenes in detail. After his first time with Jeannine, you can practically see them lying on their backs under L-shaped sheets.
