Imagism

H.D. is most known for her Imagist poems, which are usually short, spare, and intense. She's got two awesome books filled with poems like "Oread"—Sea Garden and The God. What most of these poems have in common is their intense commitment to the Imagist ideals. The poems are direct and written in natural, un-flowery language; they have no regular rhyme or meter; and they get right to the point. For more on Imagism, check out our "In a Nutshell" section.

If you're really digging H.D.'s Imagist poems, you might want to check out her poem "Sea Rose." We'll bet you'll see some interesting similarities, in terms of the poem's Imagist form and Imagist content.
