Mercedes (Maribel Verdú)’s Timeline and Summary

She greets Ofelia in the labyrinth, telling her about its history. We know right away that she's nice.
The first night we see her meeting up with the doctor, who gives her a small package to take to the rebels.
The next day she milks the cow for Ofelia and they talk about fauns and fairies.
When Ofelia has to change rooms, Mercedes is there to comfort her and sing her a lullaby.
Then it's off to the woods with Ferreiro where she meets up with the rebels (including her brother, Pedro). She brings them food, letters, and a spare key to the storeroom that Vidal doesn't know about.
She helps with the delivery of Carmen's child and again comforts Ofelia during Carmen's funeral.
After she learns of Vidal's suspicions of her, she takes Ofelia into the woods but is captured by Vidal before she can make it to the rebel camp.
But when Vidal goes to torture her she uses her paring knife to cut her binds and slice up Vidal before making a second break for the woods in broad daylight.
She makes it to a clearing but is surrounded by mounted soldiers.
She buys time be threatening her own life and is barely rescued by the rebels who assault the soldiers and save her.
During the final assault, Mercedes goes to get Ofelia in her room but doesn't find her.
When Vidal comes out of the labyrinth she is waiting for him. She takes his son and tells him that he will never know him.
In the labyrinth she finds Ofelia, shot and bleeding on the ground. She weeps over her.
