Ofelia (Ivana Baquero)’s Timeline and Summary
- Long ago, Princess Moanna escaped her underground realm and made it to the surface of the human world where the sunlight blinded her and erased her memory.
- She lived a life of pain and then she died. So much for being human.
- Then Ofelia was born, daughter of Carmen and random tailor man.
- We meet her as she travels to be with her mother's new husband, Captain Vidal.
- She's led by a fairy to an old labyrinth where she meets the Faun who tells her about her past and gives her the Book of Crossroads, which will give her three tasks she must complete before the full moon.
- First she enters an ancient fig tree and outwits the giant evil toad that's killing it. She feeds him magic stones and snags the key.
- Her next quest is delayed when her mother becomes super-sick with her unborn brother.
- The Faun gives her a mandrake root and she does as he instructs, placing it under her mother's bed in a bowl of milk and giving it two drops of blood. It works.
- Then she enters the lair of the Pale Man. She uses the key to retrieve a dagger but on her way back eats food from the forbidden feast.
- The Pale Man awakens and chows down on some fairies before almost catching up to Ofelia before she squeezes back in her room.
- The Faun is not happy…and tells her that she failed.
- Carmen dies in childbirth and Ofelia attempts to flee the estate with Mercedes, but the always-vigilant Vidal catches them.
- The Faun returns. and she's so happy to see him she hugs him. He tells her to steal her brother from Vidal and meet him in the labyrinth.
- She puts some sleepy time medicine in Vidal's drink and runs from him to the labyrinth where the Faun awaits.
- Ofelia will not offer up her brother's blood to the Faun who again disappears just in time for Vidal finally catch her and shoot her.
- As she dies, Ofelia finds herself in the Underground Realm within a golden room with her smiling parents welcoming her back.
