Brain Snacks: Tasty Tidbits of Knowledge

Alice Munro is the first Canadian to ever win a Nobel Prize in Literature. You know this was big for our nice northerly neighbors. Source 

Alice Munro's dad was a fox and mink farmer. We know this might make some of you cringe (say no to fur!), but hey, the bills weren't going to pay themselves. Source 

At age seventeen, Alice Munro wanted to marry Laurence Olivier (the very suave dude who once played Hamlet) and believed that, if the two were to ever meet, Olivier would be totally smitten by Munro. Cute. Source 

While studying journalism at the University of Western Ontario, Munro earned money by selling blood and picking suckers (stray stems) from tobacco. Talk about humble beginnings.
