Heat Setting

This poem is not explicit about its setting. What we do know is that the weather is pretty darn hot. Rather than a particular setting, then, this poem creates a particular environment against which the speaker makes her case to the wind. That environment is hot, stifling, and humid—something of the sort that might drive otherwise reasonable folks to calling on the wind for relief. In that way, then, the setting is more meteorological than geographical.
