Performing isn't just for actors. People perform all the time, and often the way we speak to one another is a large part of that performance.

We may touch, love, explain. (11-12)

All of those words work together and work splendidly if we're being honest with ourselves and those we're speaking with. But judging by the speaker's use of the word "soon," we can assume we're not quite there yet in terms of honest communication.

To tell us we are: (7-9)

Nature communicates with us too. Of course it does so without words, but our experience with nature is sometimes enough for us to understand the ways we interact with one another. And occasionally nature may also help us understand ourselves a little better, which makes our communication with other folks better too.
