Escape
- At ten o'clock, as the FitzGibbons get ready for bed, Mrs. FitzGibbon puts Dragon outside and remarks on how sleepy and lazy he is.
- Searching out any weak spots or small openings in the wall, Mrs. Frisby begins to make her escape plan.
- She feels sad that the rats are so close to achieving the Plan, but may be killed before they can try. And she's also crazy worried about her children, who may be left all alone… forever.
- She hears a scratching noise near her cage, and recognizes Justin, who tells her that he has reassured her kids that she is okay.
- Justin tells Mrs. Frisby that he can open her cage, but that it might be better to make it look the cage broke, letting Mrs. Frisby escape so as not to arouse suspicion.
- Mrs. Frisby tries to tell Justin about what she has overheard once he lets her out, but he tells her to wait until later, as they are having trouble with her cinder block.
- In a few minutes, Justin asks Mrs. Frisby to now tell him about what she has overheard, as they make their way to the Frisby home.
- She explains about the seven dead rats, the headline, and the exterminators headed for the farm.
- Justin tells her that from the moment he met her, he could tell that she was good luck, which surprises her.
- They arrive at the cement block, where rats are busily at work trying to dig up the block.
- The shrew is "acting shrewish" outside the entrance to the Frisby home, demanding that the rats leave the house alone.
- Mrs. Frisby explains that it is okay, but that doesn't stop the shrew from calling them "thieving rats."
- Timothy announces that he is all wrapped up and ready to be moved. Sounds cute, no?
- The rats have built a scaffolding system made up of four small towers. Using a pulley system, they're able to move the Frisby house to the lee side of the stone easily. Let's just reiterate: They were using a pulley system. These rats never cease to impress us.
- They all heave and ho and successfully move the house, and then they cover the old hole with dirt, so it won't appear to have been moved.
- Mission accomplished.
