The Departed Scene 16 Summary

  • Colin shows up at Special Investigations and jaws with Dignam for a while before going in to talk with Queenan. Queenan tells Colin to look at everybody in the department.
  • While lying next to Madolyn one night, Colin talks about finishing law school and maybe moving to another city. He also tells Madolyn that if their relationship doesn't work out, she needs to be the one who ends it. As Colin puts it, he's Irish, and he'll deal with something being wrong for the rest of his life.
  • Back at his desk, Colin starts searching through the information on all of Costello's men.
  • Outside a restaurant, Costello's men Fitzy and Delahunt joke about how anyone who doesn't pay attention to them is a cop.
  • Inside the bar, Frank shows up covered in blood and tells Billy he won't be working the job that day, because Frank is using all new guys for it.
  • Billy calls Queenan and tells him what's up, but he wants Queenan not to tell anyone at the station, because he thinks Costello is trying to flush him out by seeing what his rat hears at the station.
  • Queenan keeps the information to himself, and when Colin doesn't hear anything, Frank takes it as a sign that Billy is not the rat.
  • When Billy walks outside, Delahunt calls him a cop. Billy doesn't realize at first that Delahunt and Fitzy are still joking, but he laughs anyway and heads home.
