Exactly how steamy is this story?

We're not saying this is a book you shouldn't read if you're under seventeen, but be prepared for lots of sex talk, because while we don't actually see anyone getting it on, there's a lot of thinking and talking about it. We get a flashback to Anaïs giving Virginia The Talk; Virginia tells us she gets wet between her legs when Froggy touches her breasts; there's a very brief masturbation scene in the shower; and then, of course, there's the date rape. We're not there when Byron rapes Annie, but we read Virginia's imaginary version of how it all went down.
In other words, sex drives the story, even if we never see anyone having it.
