The Jungle Book Chapter 14 Summary

How It All Goes Down

Parade Song of the Camp-Animals

  • The parade song is divided up into six different parts.
  • There are elephants who carry supplies, elephants who drag cannons, cavalry horses, gun mules, and camels, each section reflecting the personality of the animals, as we saw in the previous story.
  • Finally, in the last section, we have "all the beasts together" (14.40) who sing, "Children of the Camp are we / Serving each in his degree" (14.53-14.54). An ode to teamwork… and following orders.
