Mark Watney Timeline & Summary

Mark gets stranded on Mars after being thought dead by his Ares 3 crewmates.
First, he starts a farm inside the Hab (his temporary home) using potatoes and his own poop. Yum.
Later, he discovers Pathfinder, a Mars probe from the '70s that he uses to get in contact with NASA.
After a series of disasters, Mark and NASA agree that his only hope for rescue is to travel to a different mission site: his crewmates are returning to pick him.
Mark travels through a dust storm across perilous terrain, but he finally reaches his destination—the Ares 4 site.
After a rough launch, Mark is pulled into Hermes by his crewmates. He starts his return journey home, no worse for the wear.
