Memo Paris Timeline and Summary

  • Memo's a beauty who spends her time hanging around the Knights and anyone else she thinks can help her get ahead.
  • At first she seems fragile and sad, a husbandless woman sitting in the wives' section of the stands.
  • She's dating Bump Baily, the star of the Knights, and seems to be really in love with him.
  • She (maybe) accidentally ends up in Roy's bed and has sex with him.
  • After Bump dies in an accident in the outfield, she falls apart.
  • She hangs around Roy, the new star, but rebuffs his advances most of the time.
  • She seems to be leading him on and gives him enough encouragement to stick around.
  • She presents herself as poor and helpless in an effort to get Roy's pity.
  • Memo arranges a buffet party for the team before the last game of the season.
  • She makes sure Roy eats his guts out and seems a little too interested in filling up his plate with strange foods.
  • When the food lands Roy in the hospital, she visits him and brings up fixing the game and losing the pennant.
  • She convinces Roy it's the only way she'll marry him.
  • Roy sees Memo's true colors but can't resist her.
  • After the disastrous last game, Roy visits the Judge and finds Memo there, counting up the winnings.
  • He calls her a whore.
  • Memo, furious at Roy for beating up the Judge and Gus, shoots at him.
  • She tells him she hates him and blames him for killing Bump.
  • She then puts the gun in her mouth.
  • Roy grabs the gun and throws it away, leaving Memo sobbing.
