The Narrator of "Bartleby" Timeline and Summary

The narrator is a lawyer in his 60s working mostly with mortgages and such.
He has a number of copyists in his office, but needs to hire another. So he hires Bartleby.
Bartleby works well at first, but then he starts refusing to do things.
Eventually he refuses to work at all; also, he's living in the office.
The narrator tries to get him to move out and fails. So he moves his own offices instead.
The new owners of the rooms where Bartleby is staying kick him out, and eventually have him taken to jail.
The lawyer visits Bartleby but can't help him.
Bartleby dies. The lawyer is sad.
