There's nothing sexy about The Ropemaker—some folks fall in love, but there's no touching, kissing, or anything even remotely indecent. Romance isn't a big part of this book, which focuses instead on a teenage girl's journey to realizing her own power and helping her home, rather than any crushes on boys. Tilja's best friend in the book, Tahl, is a dude, but there are no sparks flying there.
In short, there is not a single member of your family that you'd be uncomfortable reading this book around (unless you are related to people who hate unicorns… in which case we're very sorry for you).
