Dickon Sowerby

The one thing that Mary and Colin have to learn in order to get the benefits of sunshine and fresh air is how to garden. And the one person who can teach them that skill is Dickon Sowerby.

Somehow, even though Dickon is only two years older than his young and spoiled friends, he seems about a million years older in terms of maturity and capability. Dickon is amazingly good at doing everything and anything related to nature—he tames animals, nurses them back to health, takes care of gardens, and generally improves the world around him. He makes a pretty spectacular guide for Mary and Colin, even though he's a bit flat and two-dimensional as an independent character.
