  • Mme Raquin dotes on Camille and raises Thérèse from a baby. She arranges for Thérèse and Camille to marry when they are old enough. 
  • After the family moves to Paris to set up shop, Mme Raquin also holds regular Thursday gatherings with her friends. 
  • When Mme Raquin hears about Camille's death, she is devastated and doesn't leave her room for several days. 
  • Months pass, and Mme Raquin is eventually convinced by Michaud that she should encourage Thérèse to marry Laurent. 
  • After Thérèse and Laurent are married, Mme Raquin leads a very content life at the shop until she suffers a stroke that leaves her paralyzed and mute.
