Mrs. Wix Timeline and Summary

Mrs. Wix starts working for Ida Farange as a governess for Maisie.
Mrs. Wix isn't the most disciplined, but she's tender and good. She teaches Maisie about romance and confesses that she's head-over-heels for Sir Claude.
The governess disappears from the plot for a long stretch in the middle, during which both Maisie and the reader miss her badly.
When Mrs. Wix reenters the scene, it's as Maisie's savior, guide, and, most of all, provider of "moral sense" (XXVI.1).
In France, Mrs. Wix rescues Maisie from the clutches of her well-meaning but selfish stepparents. Then, she returns with Maisie to England.
