On this day in 1964, The Beatles released their second album in the United States, Meet the Beatles! The album, which contains the band's all-time best-selling single, "I Want to Hold Your Hand," hit #1 on the album chart and stayed there for eleven weeks before being dethroned. What album knocked Meet the Beatles! from the top of the pops? That would be The Beatles' third U.S. album, misleadingly titled The Beatles' Second Album.
