Comedian George Carlin died on this day in 2008. His famous bit, "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television," not only got only him arrested on charges of disturbing the peace when he performed it at Milwaukee's Summerfest in 1972, but also led to the Supreme Court decision that established what you can and—more notably—what you cannot say on network television. Meanwhile, cable TV remains home to all seven of Carlin's dirty words, and then some.
