Choice (A) passes the test with flying colors. The passage does indeed tell us that Mars is one big desert.
(B) might seem to contradict (A), since it
recognizes that Mars might have water somewhere.
However, the passage also verifies that scientists believe there could be water somewhere on
Mars, even if it's scarce.
Choice (C) is also mentioned in the passage.
Scientists do believe that Mars has polar icecaps, which shrink and grow with the seasons.
While it would be really cool if (D) were true, since it would be the first time that
life has been discovered on another planet, scientists have not been able to prove that
there is microscopic life on Mars.
While choice (D) is incorrect information, it's the correct answer for this question.
